Mint Used Conn 8D 'Constellation' Double French Horn Specifications: 'CONNstellation' - Key of F/Bb, .468' bore, 12.25' large throat bell, all nickel, tapered rotors and bearings, fully mechanical change valve, adjustable levers, clear lacquer'. It's Conn's iconic all nickel silver double horn that has been a favorite of professional players worldwide for over 50 years. This one's 'used', but it looks like a new horn that's never been played. Holton H379 'Soloist', #700,215 (2007) double french horn, solid nickel-silver, made in USA. New case. Original valves very good. We've burnished out the minor dings, spot lacquered worn areas. Original lacquer is worn maybe 5%. It's a good player, not perfect, but straight and clean. Recommended by us! Sold.

F.A. Reynolds double horn model 'Contempora FE-03', serial #79305, made in Texas in the mid-sixties. Originally designed by Max Pottag (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) for Reynolds shop in Cleveland. The firm passed to Paul Richards ('RMC' stamp on the bell), then to the Norlin Corporation (Reynolds, Olds, others..). Our FE-03 was last sold by our shop in 2006, has actually been played very little since it was new. Never any major dents, minor dings have been recently burnished out by our shop in Wichita. Reynolds instruments showed high-quality workmanship, but should not be confused with instruments of the same time from Holton or Conn. The brass is heavy and the horn therefore produces a rather dark tone-color, most favored by strong players. Good modern used case, rotors still showing good compression. The original lacquer finish is worn maybe 25%, with 75% original finish still in good condition. Sold.

Extra clean ALEXANDER double French horn, model 103G. No serial number, gold-brass construction, seamed bell. Original rotors are absolutely perfect, appear to have never been dipped in acid. No thin spots, two tiny dings have been burnished from the bell spout, but otherwise the horn is in pristine original condition. The horn has never been lacquered. Not sure of the age, but we're guessing mid to late 1960's. Case is modern, probably about 10 years old. 'Made in West Germany' on the bell. Rare, superb player, '9.9 on a scale of 10'. Sold.

Holton H-179, #660,631 Double French Horn, solid nickel-silver made in USA. Very clean original 'made in America' double horn, Phil Farkas model with large bell. This one's come to us in perfect original condition. Even the case looks new. '9.9 on a scale of 10'. Sold.

Holton H-179, serial #619,894 double French horn, solid nickel-silver, made in USA. Cosmetic condition is very good, but original valves have suffered from having been acid-dipped too many times. We've replaced the original valves with new ones (hand-lapped in our shop in Wichita), have burnished out the minor dings. Good modern case, the horn '9.5 on a scale of 10'. Sold.

HOLTON H-188 double horn, solid nickel-silver construction. #670,650. It's Holton's copy of a Conn-Elkhart 8D. This one's a good example, never seriously damaged, minor dents and dings removed in our shop. The original lacquer finish is close to 100%, valves are tight with good compression. With new Holton case. Rare, no longer available new. Holton's current professional nickel silver double horns have a suggested retail price of $6614. This one's a best buy at Sold.

Holton H-378 model double horn, #610,682. The horn has never been seriously damaged. Dents and dings have been removed in our shop, the mouthpipe is new. The H-378 is Holton's so-called 'student model' double horn, similar to top-of-the-line Farkus models. Yellow brass construction and medium bell make it a superb horn for young players. Good original case and mouthpiece are included. Suggested retail price for a new one is now $4716; 'street price' for a new one is $3259, but why buy a new one? Our price for this one is Sold.

C.G. Conn model 8D double horn, solid nickel-silver construction., #L46929 (Elkhart 1968). The original valves are still quite good, minimal wear anywhere. The bell is from Conn's Texas workshop from the late seventies or early eighties. Mouthpipe is new; case is new. New lacquer, very good player, acquired by us from a Texas estate. Sold.

Holton H-379N a good double horn of solid nickel-silver construction with nickel-silver bell, #601,514. Now with detachable bell flare, new lacquer finish to the bell and mouthpipe. Good American case. Special model, good player, best buy of Sold.

C.G. Conn model 8D, solid nickel-silver construction, #964,919 a modern Conn 8D horn that looks and plays like a new one. Several tiny dings have been burnished from the bell-spout, but this one is otherwise like new. USA suggested retail is now $6967. Maybe five years old, this one's a 'best buy' Sold.

Marching French horn, model 383 from Getzen Musical Instrument Company, in the key of F (with alternate E-flat tuning slide). Looks like an oversized trumpet but uses a French horn mouthpiece. Brass finish, good original case, dents and dings burnished out in our shop. We have two of these instruments, each selling at Sold.

Rare antique valveless natural horn by Charles Roth, made in Strasbourg before 1844-1870 w/ 9 crooks, The 'New Langwill Index' quotes '..fl Strasbourg 1844-1870' 'Established by Charles Roth, successor to Buehner & Kellner, the firm later claimed to have been established in 1792.' Original pistons are very tight, appear to have never been acid-dipped. No dents, no damage, no patches. Perfect for Gilbert & Sullivan, Rossini, Cesar Franck. Two original mouthpieces, original box / case.

Rare English 'Coach Horn' or 'Post Horn' two-piece silver plated brass construction, the bell stamped ' Boosey & Co., Ltd. / makers London / 135590 ' and ' plated by Boosey 7&Co.,' With slide pushed all the way in, total length is 25 3/4 inches (653mm), the basic tone is A, with tuning slide pulled, it plays in A-flat. Mouthpiece is stamped 'Besson PH'. Made about 1930. With modern Case, Sold

Rare antique valveless natural horn by Eduard Zedlitz, made in Mariaschein (Bohemia) before 1850, bearing the engraving to the bell garland 'Ed. Zedlitz/Mariaschein'. Bell diameter is 289 mm and the bore size, measured at the main tuning slide, is 11.5 mm. Never any major damage to the bell section, numerous dents and dings have been burnished and balled from the crooks. With two crooks (High pitch F, low pitch F) and one coupler. Sold.
